WHY CHOOSE PHYSICS?
WHY CHOOSE PSYCHOLOGY?
Physics is the fundamental science that lies at
the heart of modern engineering, technology
and medicine. You will learn a range of topics
from the smallest particles known to man
to the biggest stars in the universe. In Year 1
you will study mechanics, materials, waves,
electricity and light. In Year 2 you will study
particle physics, further mechanics, electric and
magnetic fields, thermal energy, nuclear decay
oscillations and astrophysics.
If you have ever wondered, ‘How does that
work?’ – then Physics is for you.”
Psychology allows you to use scientific
theories and models to explain all aspects of
human behaviour. It explores and evaluates
opposing views on, for example, the causes of
addiction, phobias, mental health issues, crime,
memory loss and aggression. Four approaches
are used to explain behaviour; social,
biological, cognitive and behavioural. Year 13
explores criminology & clinical applications.
Research methods are also covered. You’ll see
the world very differently after two years!
HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
Two topic-based papers and a final synoptic
paper. There is also a practical skills
endorsement that is not examined externally.
A mixture of flipped learning, independent work
and group work. The course is assessed by
three written 2 hour examinations, all include
short answer questions and essays..

Studying Physics goes beyond
learning laws of nature; it involves
excitement and hands-on experiences.
Activities like launching ping pong balls or
playing music through flaming pipes make
learning engaging and fun. This practical
approach keeps curiosity alive and shows
that Physics is both educational and
entertaining. James

Studying Psychology is an exciting
opportunity to expand your
knowledge about social interactions and
why people behave in a certain way.
I have most enjoyed studying Social
Psychology where we look at external
factors influencing the behaviour of
people. Aaron
