WHY CHOOSE PHOTOGRAPHY?
This extremely popular course is suitable for
anyone who enjoys exploring the visual world
around them. The first term will develop the
skills necessary to work in both the darkroom
and with digital photography using innovative,
experimental and creative techniques. The
projects allow students to develop their own
personal directions leading to original final
outcomes.
HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
Students develop a personally themed practical
unit of work (worth 60%) supported by an
extended essay. Students then complete a
practical exam unit (worth 40%).
SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :
No entry requirement but those who have not
attained a 4 in an arts based subject will need
to meet with the Head of Subject. A GCSE in a
creative subject would be an advantage but is
not essential.
I really enjoyed studying
Photography at The Weald as it
gave me a space to develop my own
creative ideas. From studying Art at
GCSE, Photography felt like a good
progression that allowed me to still utilise
my creativeness while exploring different
mediums. I also like how the teachers
teach Art which meant they heavily
encouraged experimenting with different
techniques. Sam
