BTEC Level 3 PEARSON
WHY CHOOSE MEDIA STUDIES?
WHY CHOOSE MEDICAL SCIENCE?
We live in a media saturated society: we
watch the news every morning, we upload
photographs on Instagram to show our friends
what we are doing, we come home in the
evenings and stream movies, play videogames, and listen to music.
In Media Studies, students will interrogate the
media more closely, studying a range of set
media texts from the past 50 years to today,
creating products of their own and evaluating
to what extent we create the media and to what
extent the media creates us. We will consider
media products from a range of perspectives,
including the key media conceptual areas
(media language, audience, industry and
representation) and theoretical perspectives
(such as postmodernism, feminism, postcolonialism).
This course will teach you about human
physiology, health issues, treatments, disorders
and infectious diseases. You will develop
practical skills in Microbiology, as well as
developing research, data analysis and
evaluation skills.

Taking Media Studies has allowed
me to improve my understanding
of the media I interact with all the time. I
have been able to learn how messages are
created and how they affect audiences,
while also developing my own creative
ideas through my coursework of making a
music video and website.Yasmin
