Our Super-Curricular
programme
As well as their academic studies,
students in The Weald Sixth
Form take part in a wide range of
Super-Curricular activities. This
often involves supporting younger
students in their studies and in
other areas such as sporting
activities and organisational skills.
We have a flourishing tutoring
system in the school whereby
many Sixth Form students tutor
younger students in specific
subject areas. The fact that our
students want to make these
wider contributions to the school
community demonstrates the
values that have been built up
in our school and Sixth Form
community. Alternatively, students
may help run sports clubs, learn
sign language or undertake an
independent learning course.
The skills developed through this
Super-Curricular programme have
been valuable to many students
as they have moved into Higher
Education or training.

I have really enjoyed peer
mentoring. It has been a
great opportunity to see their
confidence grow throughout the
term and to see the differences
that this weekly mentoring has
had on them. But for me, it has
also really helped me to develop
my leadership skills as well as my
listening and conversation skills.
Working with the lower
school in their Science
lessons has honestly been
something that I look forward to
every Monday morning. Helping
them to grow their confidence and
sense of achievement has been
so rewarding to watch. I loved
Super-Curricular, I would 100% do
it again.

I couldn’t have enjoyed
working with the year 7s
more! It felt really rewarding to
have the younger years look
up to me, thinking that I had all
the answers in the world even
when I felt a little lost. The year
7s inspired me and I hope that I
did the same for them. My super
curricular was a blessing in
disguise and I have made many
memories which I will choose to
cherish.
I have really enjoyed
helping out with Y8 PE
as part of my Super-Curricular
activity as it’s been a great
opportunity to work with some
of the younger students, helping
them build their confidence and
interest in sport. It’s also helped
develop my leadership and
communication skills which will
be useful as I go forwards in life.
