WHY CHOOSE BUSINESS CAMBRIDGE TECHNICAL?
This exciting course has been designed to
prepare you for employment. This programme
will give you the opportunity to gain a broad
understanding of the working world, and
skills that you will need to be successful in
the future. The course is the equivalent of a
GCSE at Grade 4 and is the ideal platform
for progressing to advanced courses or
employment.
HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
This one year course consists of three units of
study, graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. All
units of study have to be completed at a Pass
level to achieve the qualification. There are no
exams. It is a 100% coursework subject.
SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
This pathway will be considered for students
who achieve an Average GCSE point score of
3 or more across a minimum of 5 subjects, and
also for those who need to resit both Maths
and English Language GCSE.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This course is studied together with a Level
2 course in Travel, and GCSE English and/or
GCSE Maths retake as required.

This applied learning course will provide an
introduction to the travel and tourism sector
and support progression to further/higher
education or employment.
In addition to its focus on the travel
and tourism industry, the course has a
strong emphasis on core knowledge and
fundamental skills (such as communication
and team working) that are transferable across
other sectors.The travel and tourism industry
is one of the fastest growing industries in the
UK. The value of tourism to the UK economy
is over £200 billion, and the sector employs
around 4 million people, therefore it is an area
that offers many opportunities.
This applied learning course will provide an

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
There are three mandatory components:
1) Travel and tourism organisations and
destinations. 2) Influences on global travel
and tourism. 3) Customer needs in travel and
tourism. Components 1 and 2 are assessed
by internal supervised assignment briefs.
Component 3 is synoptic and is assessed by
and external examination.
