WHY CHOOSE HISTORY?
WHY CHOOSE MATHEMATICS?
History is a subject which offers variety, interest
and excitement, as well as the chance to more
fully understand the complexities of the world
around you. The intrigue of the early Tudor
period, the turmoil and tragedy of Russia in
revolution and the deep political resonance of
civil rights in the USA are all full of powerful
stories and perspectives.
This course will expand your mathematical
thinking, understanding and above all, your
enjoyment of Mathematics. You will study
Pure Mathematics and from here will branch
out to use these skills in both Mechanics and
Statistics. You will cover many interesting topics
such as Algebra and Functions, Trigonometry,
Probability, Numerical Measures, Statistical
distributions, Vectors and Kinematics.
Most Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics courses require A Level
Mathematics. In addition to Mathematics being
highly regarded by universities and employers,
it is a hugely interesting subject with a lot of
transferable skills.
HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
History is taught in a a variety of ways including
group work, presentations, use of film and

Studying History A-Level at The
Weald is an interesting and enriching
experience. It’s something I’ve always
had a passion for, and the teachers are
incredibly supportive with navigating both
the essay and coursework sections of the
subject. The variety of topics means there’s
something for everyone, and so far I’ve
enjoyed it hugely. Olivia
