”I left The Weald after spending much of my
college years isolated due to lockdown and
having Cystic Fibrosis. So going to uni felt like an
even bigger step than usual! I went to Exeter to study
BA English. Fast forward 4 years, I am completing
my Masters in Publishing in Exeter, after achieving
a First Class degree in my undergrad! I am actively
engaged in sustainability within both the publishing
and fashion industry, I am Co-President of Be The
Change, Exeter’s sustainability society, work for
the University’s Sustainability Team and local indie
publisher David And Charles - it’s a lot! My interest in
environmentalism started in secondary school, and
flourished at The Weald when I studied Geography
and wrote a climate-focused EPQ about single-use
plastic.”
After leaving The Weald Sixth Form I went to the
University of Nottingham where I studied a Law
degree for three years. This involved studying many
different areas of the law including criminal, family
and contract to name a few. Following university, I
explored a number of career paths, including training
to become a barrister and also looked into a number
of graduate schemes such as the NHS Business
Management Scheme and the Police Detective
Graduate Programme. Ultimately, I was fortunate
enough to secure a place on the Civil Aviation
Authority’s Business Management Graduate Scheme
where I am able to apply my legal knowledge in a
regulatory field and work on exciting future aviation
innovation projects. I am thoroughly enjoying this
scheme and hope to build a successful career within
the CAA.

“I entered Sixth Form not having attained
my full potential at GCSE level. The Sixth
Form team and staff worked hard to encourage
me to realise this during my time with them and I
am now reading Economics at Pembroke College,
Cambridge. I am currently in my third year of
undergraduate study, with two years remaining; one
of which I will dedicate to the Mathematics Tripos.
The Economics Tripos at Cambridge is renowned
for its academic depth and rigor, and my Sixth Form
experience provided excellent preparation. Looking
ahead, I aim to break into Quantitative Finance,
beginning with a summer 2025 internship in New
York at Moorgate Capital.”
I never had a clear image of what my future
would look like, so when entering Sixth Form I
decided to choose A Levels I would enjoy. Inspired
by Media Studies, I went on to study Journalism
at Goldsmiths University of London and joined the
university’s newspaper, eventually going on to lead
the paper in my second and third year. It was there
when I took on the newspapers social media where I
found a passion that clicked with me.
After leaving uni, I did some freelance work for
local small businesses helping them set up and run
their socials, before landing my dream job doing
social media for a cruise line. I now have fantastic
travel opportunities where I go abroad to work with
influencers and capture content, while working
under a thriving team that encourages me to grow.
Sometimes you don’t know what your dream job is
until you discover it!
