Economics as a subject goes really well with subjects like politics,
philosophy and mathematics. For those wishing to study it at a higher
level there are lots of courses available, both for straight economics
as well as combinations with other subjects like philosophy, politics,
business, international relations, development and the environment
studies.

I chose the IB as I wanted to
continue studying subjects
which I would not have taken A
Levels in. Furthermore, the Global
Politics course had much more of
a focus on International Relations,
which interested me
“
I have really enjoyed the
international focus of the course
in subjects such as Literature and
Politics, which has opened my
mind to potentially studying or
working abroad in the future.
Whilst at Varndean, I also
competed at the Oxford Union
Debating Competition,
completed my Gold Duke of
Edinburgh Award, and
accepted for the Lucy
Cavendish Academic
Attainment Programme.
