TRAVEL & TOURISM
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate (equivalent to 1 A Level)
If you are interested in becoming one of the professionals needed to plan and
manage tourist attractions, work in holiday resorts, organise tours, run travel
agencies and tour operators or work in passenger travel by land, sea and air, this
course could be right for you.
The course is intensive and requires significant use of IT to conduct independent
research. You will have opportunities to work in teams and individually. Our
teaching staff have extensive experience of working within the travel industry
and have numerous connections to individuals still working within the trade. We
also organise many trips and visits as well as inviting speakers from key industry
organisations.

Standard Advanced Level entry
requirements
There are trips available as part of the
course including occasional short European
visits and longer stays in long haul
destinations. We also offer the opportunity
to attend a cabin crew day course run by a
major international airline. There are some
compulsory trips on which we base some
research and students may need to make
a payment of approximately £50 at the start
of the course.
Typical career routes may include working
for tour operators, travel agency work,
managing visitor attractions, working in
passenger transport, event management,
planning and developing tourism.
University courses include: International
Tourism Management, Event Management,
Travel Marketing and Business.
