COURSE CONTENT
• Construct 3: Learn game design
using Construct 3, a beginner-friendly,
drag-and-drop game engine. Perfect
for newcomers to game development,
Construct 3’s intuitive visual programming
environment allows you to quickly
develop 2D games without needing
to write code. This hands-on approach
helps you focus on core game design
principles, mechanics, and creativity, while
also providing a solid foundation in game
development.
• Blender: Develop your 3D modelling skills
using Blender, an open-source software
that has become a go-to tool for game
developers worldwide. With powerful
features for 3D modelling, texturing,
animation and rendering, Blender gives
you the ability to create professionalquality assets for your games — without
the high costs of proprietary software.
• Unity3D: As one of the most widely used
game engines, Unity3D is a critical tool for
aspiring game developers. You’ll learn to
build, program, and deploy games using
Unity, which powers over half of all mobile
games and is a key engine for console
and VR games. Mastering Unity3D will
give you a competitive edge, as it is a
preferred choice for developers and

You will have individual access to a
computer during lessons. Students will
be expected to spend time out of lessons
working on their portfolios. Although it
is not essential to have a computer with
internet connectivity at home, students who
do not have this facility must be prepared
to make full use of the College’s open
access facilities.
CAREER PATHWAYS
As this course offers a wide range of
vocational elements to further pursue,
learners usually choose an area of game
development to specialise at HE level,
such as computer science, 3D or 2D art,
animation, or game design generally.
Learners also develop skills in STEM
more generally and so can pursue fields
from web development to physics and
engineering.
